The 88 km cable section A1 from Wolmirstedt was approved on 31 March 2025 and has been under construction since April 2025. The first link is planned to run in 2027, and the converters for the second link, SuedOstLink Plus, are due to be handed over in 2030. That keeps electrical, cable and commissioning crews in the area for several years. They base in Wolmirstedt, Barleben, Haldensleben and Magdeburg.
